These units combine a ruddepost bearing with an above-the-waterline stuffing box for rudderposts ranging from 1" diameter to 4-1/2".

Edson recommends fiberglassing the collar of the stuffing box/bearing to the top of the tubing when the rudderpost is on place.
Do this by using alternating layers of fiberglass mat and cloth, making the post a structural bearing that will help carry rudder loads with minimal friction.
