Safety Tinned Duplex Boat Cable - Flat
Red & Yellow Primary Conductors
This wire features red and yellow insulated primary conductors with a white, flat, outer jacket. The use of "Safety Wire" can prevent confusion between AC and DC wires. On a boat with both AC and DC circuits, it is possible to confuse the black negative wire of a DC circuit with the black current carrying (hot) wire of an AC circuit. The result can be fatal.
Safety Wire uses red and yellow as colors for the positive and negative (respectively) leads in DC circuits. This helps avoid any confusion, since all AC and DC wires will then have different colors.
